About Rolando Silva

Captain Rolando Silva is a decorated law enforcement officer with over 35 years of experience. He has served in a variety of Command-Level leadership positions, including serving as District Commander for the Village of Wellington, City of Lake Worth Beach and Belle Glade, Pahokee and South Bay districts of the Palm Beach Sheriff”s Office. He also served as a Special State Prosecutor for the 15th Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s office.

Rolando graduated summa cum laude from Lynn University with a Master of Science in Criminal Justice, and later earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law. He is an active member of the Florida Bar and the Washington, DC Bar. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy’s 254th Session, the Harvard Kennedy School’s Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program, and the Police Executive Research Forum’s Senior Management Institute of Policing program held at Boston University.

Rolando is a published author and recipient of numerous awards, including the 2010 United States Attorney’s Office Outstanding Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award. He was also a 2012 finalist for the IACP Webber Seavey Award for Quality in Law Enforcement as Program Director for PBSO’s Smart Policing Initiative. Rolando’s article ‘Reset Leadership’ was published in the American Police Beat Magazine, a leading law enforcement journal.

Rolando is a dedicated husband to Lisa and father of two adult children. He is also a passionate advocate for community service and has volunteered on humanitarian relief missions to Haiti, Puerto Rico, and Africa. Rolando serves on the Board of Directors for Cops Helping Kids, Inc. In his spare time, he enjoys golf, running, and reading.

Rolando serves on the board of Cops Helping Kids where he created and oversees the organization’s annual “Building Bridges” program in whereby law enforcement delivers presents to children of incarcerated fathers at the South Bay Prison during the holidays.
